Notes from 09-29-10 Day 48 at the HA
We get into a habit as Christians to think we always need a revelation.
Study your bible
We have to understand the purpose,
Jesus' purpose is to show us God.
If you want to see God look at Jesus
1 John 12:21
1 John 14:8
John 1:18
So many times we read scripture with an American mindset and out our American definitions on Greek and Hebrew
Every one of us should buy the
Greek and Hebrew key study bible
Exogigomia/Declare in Greek means to pull out or declare thoroughly
Jesus thoroughly explained God, by his very nature, by His characteristics
1John 5:20
Knowledge/Genosko in Greek means progressive something...
Epigenosko - A very intimate relationship
A person cannot know Christ with out it changing him.
2 Corinthians 4:4 - Jesus is the image of God
Proof text, Jesus is the sun of God.
Eikon - bodily representation, assume prototype actually drawn from them

Jesus is the brightness of God's glory; He did not just reflect God but He Literally shown His own glory because He is God.
The gospels are like 4 different
Matthew was written to the Jews (we think like Americans)
The Old Testament is very important to the Jews
Matthew quotes there Old Testament.
Old Testament predictions reveal 12 times
The purpose of Matthew:
Bring forth Jesus as the Messiah
Show Jesus as the King
Matthews’s methodology:
Genealogies mean nothing to us, but to a Jew it means everything
Matthew shows his purpose right off the bat
A Jew wants to know if Jesus fulfills the qualifications of being from the seed of Abraham
Matthew from the get-go talks about Jesus’ birth
Matthew is out to show that Jesus is King, if He's king he's gotta have a birth, if you’re a king, people gotta worship you.
Jesus talks most about His kingdom at the Sermon on the Mount
Matthew puts Thy kingdom come at the end of the Lord's Prayer because he was trying to prove Jesus is King
Kingdom of heaven used 30 times
Only in Matthew is the phrase "kingdom of heaven" used
Righteousness is used 17 times
Talks about the Thrown of His Glory
Quotes John "Repent the kingdom of heaven is at hand"
Each writer writes different parts of the first miracle
A leper was a picture of sin
And Matthew's first account is of Jesus Healing a leper.
Being a leper you could not come close to a leper.
The way that Jesus dies in each gospel is very significant.
Matthew states that Jesus gave over His spirit.

FASTING
When fasting, spend the time that you would normally use to fulfill that craving by spending that time with God.
Learn that discipline
I have a progression in my life of where I am to where God wants me to go.
Study the life of David.
From anointing David was preparing for 30 years
And had to learn that he was there for them, they weren't there for David
Learn the lessons that God presents.
God will be teaching me things that I have to learn before I move on to the next place God has for me.
