Notes de Learning

Here are a few notes I typed up this morning.

Notes from 09-29-10  Day 48 at the HA

We get into a habit as Christians to think we always need a revelation.

Study your bible

We have to understand the purpose,

Jesus' purpose is to show us God.
If you want to see God look at Jesus
1 John 12:21
1 John 14:8
John 1:18

So many times we read scripture with an American mindset and out our American definitions on Greek and Hebrew

Every one of us should buy the
Greek and Hebrew key study bible

Exogigomia/Declare in Greek means to pull out or declare thoroughly

Jesus thoroughly explained God, by his very nature, by His characteristics

1John 5:20

Knowledge/Genosko in Greek means progressive something...

Epigenosko - A very intimate relationship

A person cannot know Christ with out it changing him.

2 Corinthians 4:4 - Jesus is the image of God
Proof text, Jesus is the sun of God.
Eikon - bodily representation, assume prototype actually drawn from them

Homomomia- resembles something, but did not come from the

Jesus looked and acted like God because He came from God.

Hebrews 1:2-3

The Greek word
Charactar - express (like an actor)

Jesus brought out ever faucet of God's character, for me

Jesus gave us the Character of God

Jesus is the brightness of God's glory; He did not just reflect God but He Literally shown His own glory because He is God.

The gospels are like 4 different

Matthew was written to the Jews (we think like Americans)

The Old Testament is very important to the Jews
Matthew quotes there Old Testament.

Old Testament predictions reveal 12 times

The purpose of Matthew:
Bring forth Jesus as the Messiah
Show Jesus as the King

Matthewss methodology:
Genealogies mean nothing to us, but to a Jew it means everything

Matthew shows his purpose right off the bat

A Jew wants to know if Jesus fulfills the qualifications of being from the seed of Abraham

Matthew from the get-go talks about Jesus birth

Matthew is out to show that Jesus is King, if He's king he's gotta have a birth, if youre a king, people gotta worship you.

Jesus talks most about His kingdom at the Sermon on the Mount

Matthew puts Thy kingdom come at the end of the Lord's Prayer because he was trying to prove Jesus is King

Kingdom of God
Kingdom of heaven used 30 times

Only in Matthew is the phrase "kingdom of heaven" used
Righteousness is used 17 times

Talks about the Thrown of His Glory
Quotes John "Repent the kingdom of heaven is at hand"

Each writer writes different parts of the first miracle

A leper was a picture of sin
And Matthew's first account is of Jesus Healing a leper.
Being a leper you could not come close to a leper.

The way that Jesus dies in each gospel is very significant.

Matthew states that Jesus gave over His spirit.

MARK
Was written to Romans - that is written to Romans
-No Old Testament scriptures, or prophecies fulfilled in Mark

Full of power full of conquest, action

Point of mark: The show forth Jesus as a Servant as a worker and a Conqueror

Mark 10:45 - To minister and give His life ransom for many

Euthios - straight way - used 43 times

Used more times in chapter 1 of mark than all of Matthew Luke or John uses it.

The gospel of Mark going to impress the Roman

If you want an essay, you read Mark,

If you want an easy read of the gospels, read Mark

Mark gets to in chapter 1 what takes Matthew 8 chapters to get to.

Mark covers in 9 chapters what takes Matthew 18

12 of the 16 chapters begin with "And"

In chapter 1 of Mark
-Jesus cast out a demon
-Healed a person with a fever
-Cleansed a leper
-

Things that Mark leaves out:
-Jesus birth is not mentioned
-No Abraham genealogies
-No angels
-No Sheppards
-No boyhood incidents
-No sermon on the mount
-No enditements by scribes or phrases
-No Lord judging between
-Never called Lord until after the resurrection whereat is used 70-80 times in other gospels

Using what is necessary

Mark will show how Jesus came to serve

Hands are mentioned many times Mark
Show that Jesus came to serve

1 recorded miracle mentioned in Mark the deliverance of a demoniac
Speaking to Romans

Mark is not trying to prove that Jesus is in control

Mark states, He breathed His last breath and died

Go! With signs and wonders

People will start seeing that God is alive

Stop being afraid of what you will look like, Is the bible true or not?

We need to stop worrying about offending people

We can't have any more revivals we need reformation

LUKE
Is writing to All-man-kind specifically Jews (Theofalis)

-Greek style teaching - he talks, we listen

-Jew style teaching - active learning (lick the honey off the slate)
Whenever you get asked a question ask another question until someone cannot answer

Mentioned teacher, master in Luke

Luke is trying to show that Jesus is the perfect man on all display

Luke goes from Adam to Jesus to prove that He is a human

Luke 2:23 Luke 2:42 Luke 2:24 Luke 22, Luke 24
Proving Jesus is a real human

Luke uses the word savior 2 times and it is only used in Luke

Sinner is used 16 times

Luke emphasizes the prayer life of Jesus more than any other gospel

9 References of Jesus praying
Luke5 Luke 6 luke9 Luke 11
On the cross
At the baptism

This man, Is a redeemer
Romans 5

Cults try to prove 2 things:
1. Jesus is not a savior
2. Jesus is not a man

FASTING
When fasting, spend the time that you would normally use to fulfill that craving by spending that time with God.

Learn that discipline

I have a progression in my life of where I am to where God wants me to go.
Study the life of David.
From anointing David was preparing for 30 years
And had to learn that he was there for them, they weren't there for David

Learn the lessons that God presents.
God will be teaching me things that I have to learn before I move on to the next place God has for me.

JOHN
Writes to the church at large

The organized church has been established
The message is for the world at large, the Jews, the Gentiles,

Writes this a while after the resurrection of Jesus
And after some of the other disciples had died

Purpose: set forth the deity of Jesus

John 1:12

In the beginning Jesus was with God and Jesus Was God.
1 chapter of John is about the deity of God.

3 Words for Word

Logos - Spoken, the fullness of the message,
Rhema - Spoken (For a particular season)
Graphie - written Word

Usually when someone gets a prophetic word it is a confirmation of something God has already been working on.

Uses Phrases like

He is the light
He reveals
He it the truth (essence of all truth)

To find truth you have to go back to God

Johns first recorded miracle is when Jesus turned water to wine

No apprehensions of the cross
No apprehension in the garden
No baptism
No temptations
23 times the phrase "I am" is used in John
Gives 7 metaphors about redemption

Common to all gospels:
Not birth
Not Baptism
Not Fasting
Not genealogies
Not Parables
Not Teaching
Not miracles
The thing that is common in all of the gospels is the cross and The Resurrection.
